Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act
Introduced into public law in 1996 HIPAA is intended to protect healthcare information maintained by Health Care Practitioners regarding their patients. Protected Health Information (PHI) refers to any and all information collected for treating, diagnosis, and claim reimbursement that is transmitted or stored by electronic means, or otherwise (Act CFR 164.501).
All Health Care Practitioners are required to conform under Act 45 CFR 160.13. Fines for non-compliance are steep yet easily avoided by outsourcing your billing to the experienced professionals at AMM.
The first two major deadlines for complying with HIPAA passed on April 15 and October 16, 2003. If you are overdue in submitting the required documents give us a call for assistance and to get your practice back on the right track.
Our systems comply with all current HIPAA security regulations to ensure there is no breach in the privacy of your patient's information, or that of your practice.
